CesiumAstro Selected to Support GMD Weapon System (GWS) In-flight Interceptor Communications System (IFICS) for Missile Defense Agency

AUSTIN, Texas, April 21, 2026 – CesiumAstro, a leader in advanced space communications, has been awarded a contract to deliver a new active phased array variant as part of an expansion to its Skylark product line. This large-aperture array, built on CesiumAstro’s scalable active phased array architecture, will support modernization of the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS), a critical part of missile defense.

This award underscores Skylark’s value as a software-defined, mobile-ready terminal.  The system’s modular design allows it to adapt to evolving mission needs, including integration across a wide range of platforms, from ground vehicles to next-generation airborne assets.
