Acquisition strengthens CesiumAstro’s ability to deliver resilient, intelligent mission systems for U.S. government and national security customers
AUSTIN, Texas — Aug. 25, 2026 — CesiumAstro Inc., a global leader in space and defense communications systems and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) systems today announced the acquisition of 1Aardvark, LLC, a Virginia-based small business specializing in mission software, algorithms, and systems engineering for national defense programs.
The acquisition expands CesiumAstro’s ability to deliver space systems that can operate with greater autonomy and resilience in demanding mission environments. By combining 1Aardvark’s mission software expertise with CesiumAstro’s satellites, communications systems, and advanced computing capabilities, the company can now support more capable missions in which spacecraft can respond to changing conditions and continue operating when connectivity is limited or disrupted.
1Aardvark’s software and mission capabilities enable some of the nation’s most complex defense challenges, including missile defense and missile tracking. Its technology is designed to enable distributed systems to coordinate and execute missions reliably, including in contested or disconnected environments.
“The next generation of defense space systems requires more than exceptional hardware. It requires systems that can adapt, make decisions, and continue executing the mission in increasingly complex environments,” said Shey Sabripour, Founder and CEO of CesiumAstro. “1Aardvark brings deep mission software expertise that complements the systems we already build and will help us deliver more complete, resilient capabilities to the U.S. government faster.”
The acquisition builds on CesiumAstro’s broader strategy to bring more critical technologies under one roof. In 2026, the company also acquired Vidrovr, an artificial intelligence company focused on real-time data analysis, and Jariet Technologies, a U.S.-based semiconductor company. Together, these investments expand CesiumAstro’s ability to develop and deliver integrated space and defense systems spanning hardware, software, computing, communications, and mission intelligence.
“1Aardvark’s vision has always been to move more mission capability to the edge in a reliable and efficient way,” said Ryan Kenward, President of 1Aardvark. “Joining CesiumAstro gives us the opportunity to bring that vision to a much broader range of space and defense missions and to deliver integrated solutions from the underlying technology through mission execution.”
With the addition of 1Aardvark, CesiumAstro continues to expand its ability to deliver end-to-end systems for national security missions, combining advanced spacecraft and communications technology with the software needed to make those systems more autonomous, adaptable, and resilient.
